Getting started on a collaboration, starts with a conversation.
Kevan here, founder of Co.school; I wanted to demystify the process of working with a consultancy like Co.school. Here's how it normally goes.
- A discovery call: I'd love to meet you, and learn more about what you're facing. I'll ask lots of questions, and you can ask me plenty, too. We'll try to identify where you are getting stuck, and what support you need. If we sense there is mutual fit, let's talk again.
- A proposal: I'll share a proposal with you, that offers a co-designed path for a possible engagement. In this document, I'll speak back to you your current reality, and suggest a recommended approach for moving through it, towards your outcomes. The proposal will include pricing, sample projects and any other timeline bits or assumptions we need to surface. Still no risk, pressure or obligation at this point, just an option on the table. Typical investment ranges depend on the length of the project, number of participants, and type of deliverable.
- Behind-the-scenes conversations: You'll need to talk to your people – the board, your colleagues, your team – to make sure you're in agreement. You'll need to think and process what I've shared, and likely request some additional proposals from other vendors. You can reach out to me to ask questions, we can make adjustments to scope and plan, and when (or if) you're ready, we'll sign a contract.
- Your project begins: Every project is different, but typically, we'll move through a flow of Discovery > Co-design > Live sessions > Synthesis and follow-up. In discovery, we get fully onboarded into your context. In co-design, we'll collaboratively shape the nature of our engagement (whether it involves interviews, workshops, 1:1 calls, etc), and in the next bit, we'll run what we design. Following that, we'll capture and collect key insights in the shape of a deliverable we agreed upon, which depends entirely on what we're making together.
