Design thinking training for educators

Design thinking training for educators

Design and technology is a key skill area for our students’ futures: are you ready as an educator to lead? Get familiar with the full flow of applied design — from ideating, to creating and sharing products, to extending human capabilities through technology – so you can lead classrooms more confidently through these big ideas.

Participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of the basics of design thinking, including the terminology and theory behind ideation, product design, service design, prototyping, testing, and more
  • Understand the mindsets needed for collaborative design and technology skills: curiosity, play-based learning,  creativity, growth mindset
  • Get hands-on practice through the entire design thinking workflow, conducting user interviews, leading ideation sessions and making testable prototypes.
  • Receive solid templates and takeaways you can adapt into classroom-ready experiences and lesson plans

This training is strongly linked to the British Columbia Ministry of Education’s area of learning “Applied Design, Skills and Technology” and the associated curricular competencies.

Sessions are customizable to suit the audience: from full-day workshops, to one-hour interactive keynotes.

Previous participants have included K-12 classroom teachers, staff members at universities, non-profit organizations, public service organizations, tech companies, financial institutions and more.
